A delicacy on Thanksgiving


This morning for Thanksgiving breakfast, I had something very special. Biscuits with bacon and fresh garden tomatoes. Yes.... fresh garden tomatoes which ripened in my windowsill. These were plucked from the vine before the first frost and wrapped individually in newspaper, and stored in a cool place. I imagine that a few just might make it on into the Christmas season. And thankfully I will not be eating tasteless tomatoes from Canada or Mexico. Oh the wonders of gardening and learning to do it well.
Tomorrow, maybe fresh salsa or taco salad, or a "summer" salad with fresh tomatoes, feta or mozarella and Italian dressing to suppliment the Thanksgiving day leftovers. For dessert, my from scratch pumpkin cheesecake.
